IHBC President launches next #IHBCMarshAwards: ‘Your new chance to nominate ‘retired IHBC members’ and/or ‘successful learners’ for our awards’, closing 29 Feb 2020

IHBC Marsh AwardsThe IHBC’s Marsh Awards, developed in partnership with the Marsh Christian Trust, has entered its successful fifth year with the launch of the two 2020 Awards – one celebrating civic contributions of retired IHBC members, and one for successful learning in heritage skills – with prizes for each that include £500 and a free place at the IHBC’s Brighton 2020 Annual School, with a closing date for this year of 29 February 2020.

IHBC President Mike Brown is encouraging members to consider nominations for the Marsh Awards for ‘Successful Learning in Heritage Skills’, and for ‘Community Contribution (Retired Member of the IHBC)’.

Mike Brown said: ‘The nomination process is extremely simple, while the winners are recognised with cash awards of £500 and a free full place at the IHBC’s Annual School every June, where we present the awards.’

‘For learners, both the funding and the education from the School could be a critical step-up in their trade or career. For retired members of the IHBC (all categories), if the cash is not a priority, it could be donated to another deserving cause, as well as raising its profile.’

‘So please do consider promoting nominations or, for someone deserving that you know, who might be thanked and celebrated as follows:

  • The IHBC Marsh Award for Community Contribution (Retired Member) is offered to celebrate the contribution of a retired IHBC member to the community (e.g. through BPT involvement, neighbourhood planning, civic and local trusts with heritage interests).
  • IHBC Marsh Award for Successful Learning in Heritage Skills is designed to recognise the contribution of an individual for their significant learning in traditional building activities and craft skills.

‘It does take a little effort, but could make all the difference to someone’s life skills or cherished projects.’

To nominate, all you need do is complete an easy-fill form:

Nomination forms must be submitted by February 29th.
