IHBC’s COVID-19 signpost 112: COVID-19 Update from Heritage Open Days – ‘go ahead’ for 11-20 Sept

Heritage Open Days (HoDs) has updated on its arrangements in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and ‘that the festival will go ahead for 11-20 September’.

Heritage Open Days writes:

Heritage Open Days is all about celebrating community and local stories, which feels more important than ever. After much (and ongoing) discussion with our community of thousands of local organisers, we are delighted to confirm that the festival will go ahead for 11-20 September.

We’re excited to announce that online events will be offered for the first time as well as any in-person opportunities possible within government guidelines at the time of the festival. Communities will be able to celebrate the stories of the places and spaces that are important to them in new and innovative ways. Visitors will be able to participate in activities much further afield to explore even more hidden places and local gems from the comfort and security of their armchair.

Organisers – taking part

Registration will be temporarily closed whilst we adapt the system to suit the new festival format. As ever, all organisers will be kept up to date with plans and progress. If you’re new to the festival and wanting to participate, do get in touch and we’ll ensure you’re included in these communications: ….

Visitors – what’s on?!

With online events you’ll be able to explore more hidden places and stories than before from further afield! To help you find them we’re adapting our website to make it easier for you to search the listings. Event details will go live in August on the Visit page, but in view of the fluid world we are living in, it will be more important than ever to check back for changes.
