IHBC’s HESPR ‘Special Interest Sector News’ pick of the week: Contractor’s COVID-19 tests positive for 53%

logoThe IHBC’s heritage business register HESPR – our Historic Environment Service Providers Recognition quality assurance scheme for heritage services working to the IHBC’s standards – emails members weekly ‘News and Tender Alerts, including notices gleaned from across the development sector’s publications, and this week features Construction Enquirer on how one contractor’s COVID-19 testing ‘shows 53% have had virus’.

Construction Enquirer writes:

Fit out contractor Collins Construction has confirmed a 53% positive rate after employees, their families and subcontractors were offered Covid-19 antibody tests.

The firm linked-up with the private Corona Test Centre to test 231 people last week.

Full results shared with the Enquirer show 53% of the tests – which show if you have already had Covid-19 – came back positive.

Collins Construction director of health and safety Tony Turner said the high level of positive tests was a surprise because most people were unaware they had been ill or showed only minor symptoms.

He said: ‘Most cases showed no symptoms and people were unaware they had it….’
