Following calls to members, IHBC Chair calls on Committees to inform Institute’s pandemic and post-pandemic planning priorities

Following his call for IHBC member feedback on pandemic pressures and priorities as the lockdown eases, IHBC Chair David McDonald has asked the IHBC’s four lead Committees to feed back to the board thoughts on ‘issues that you… think should receive more urgent consideration within our current plans’.

David McDonald writes:

Following my call for IHBC feedback on pandemic pressures and priorities as the lockdown eases, and ensuing discussions at our Board meetings, I’m writing to ask you, as Committee Chair, to help by leading your committee in collating any relevant immediate, short or medium term issues that you – and they – think should receive more urgent consideration within our current plans.

To initiate this review, we would encourage you simply to forward this copy to all your committee members with a cover note asking them to let you know of any concerns linked to the pandemic that they think could be helped by more targeted action at our end.  Our National Office can help you with these communication too of course, through your lead staff support for your Committee (Seán for Comms and Education; Fiona for Policy and Membership).

With that National Office support too, I hope you can compile and, as feasible, agree an interim list of priority pandemic-related issues and areas for your Committee that we can bring to the board for evaluation and response.

As you can see, at this stage we are still continuing our ‘light touch’ strategy to gather as broad a response as efficiently as possible.

In addition, we will also use feedback responses to consider how any more formal survey might help.  Indeed I would also welcome your thoughts on such a survey and its content, either within or apart from your feedback.

Many thanks in advance for your help in bringing this forward and I look forward to hearing more on how we can best help our volunteers, members and the wider sector.
