IHBC’s latest ‘CPD Circular’ now out! From England’s planning White Paper to Retrofit, IHBC trustees shape sector policy, practice, and more

The IHBC has issued its latest ‘CPD Circular’, with post-lockdown event planning content that includes the IHBC’s own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) support, the ‘IHBC Recognised CPD Providers’ CPD service, with content from across the sector that, naturally, includes plenty of expertise from IHBC trustees and volunteers, including Trustee and Communications Committee Secretary Dave Chetwyn’s contributions to a Consultation Institute webinar on England’s Planning White Paper, and IHBC Trustee and Wales Branch representative John Edwards with courses on ‘Energy efficiency and Retrofitting’.

The IHBC’s ‘CPD Circular’ reports:

As part of the IHBC’s commitment to providing our members and their networks with up to date information on continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities and information, this monthly service includes upcoming Branch and National Events, CPD opportunities, Awards, Placements, Bursaries & Scholarships, Calls for Papers and more from across the UK and beyond.

….expertise from IHBC trustees and volunteers, including… Dave Chetwyn ’s contributions to a Consultation Institute webinar on England’s Planning White Paper and, ….

….John Edwards with courses on ‘Energy efficiency and Retrofitting’.

Progressing into autumn we present a range of events, some of which are sector focussed, others part of mainstream and other sectors.  As many of these events are delivered virtually, and so are widely accessible, members are encouraged to look broadly at the offerings in order to enhance and broaden their personal development in areas and competencies they might have otherwise found difficult to achieve.

…IHBC Policy Committee will be having a dedicated meeting to discuss the White Paper…

If you are concerned or curious about the recently issued Planning White Paper, note the upcoming TCI webinar on 16 Sept where IHBC Trustee and current Communications Committee Secretary Dave Chetwyn will be a panellist discussing the issues and challenges facing the planning sector.  Additionally, the IHBC Policy Committee will be having a dedicated meeting to discuss the White Paper amongst committee members and Trustees.

Energy efficiency and Retrofitting have seen a resurgence in attention as the mainstream’s lack in skills of how to retrofit sympathetically is becoming painfully evident.  Recently made available online, the only short course with a Level 3 Award Qualification run by IHBC Trustee and Wales Branch rep John Edwards seeks to rectify this imbalance.  Details and course availability follow.

NB: A post-publication update is that the IHBC’s Council+ that had been scheduled for 3 December in London has been postponed due to the pandemic, while the IHBC’s re-scheduled 2020 AGM will take place as a ‘Virtual AGM’ on 3 December, precise details to come.
