Confirmation: 69% of people think culture on their high street makes their area a better place to live

As part of Arts Council England’s work to demonstrate the value of culture and creativity, it commissioned ‘A High Street Renaissance’ report which revealed that ‘More than two thirds of UK adults (69%) agree that cultural experiences on the high street make their local area a better place to live’.

Arts Council England writes:

Bringing together information we’ve previously published and new polling from DeltaPoll, as well as case studies from across the country, this report points to a body of evidence that demonstrates the role culture and creativity plays in:

  • attracting footfall to the high street
  • generating spend
  • creating civic pride
  • the post-pandemic high street.
