The AHF writes:
We are currently seeking to appoint two new trustees to join our Board. The Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF) is a leading heritage charity founded in 1976 to help charities, community businesses and social enterprises across the UK find solutions for vulnerable historic buildings. We do this by offering advice, grants and loans.
The past year saw us award 290 grants totalling £7,650,790 to 254 organisations. We also made an unprecedented £5,538,000 of loan offers. We are the UK’s leading heritage social investor and the only specialist heritage lender. This is a unique opportunity to join an ambitious organisation, one open to new ideas and thinking.
The AHF is currently embarked on the delivery of a number of initiatives, including the ‘Transforming Places through Heritage’ programme and new social investment funding in the ‘Heritage Impact Fund’. We have also piloted new initiatives such as Heritage Development Trusts, a model we are seeking to seed and grow across the UK. Our partnerships with key funding partners grow stronger, year on year, and we take pride on being a forward looking organisation that helps generate new thinking about how our heritage can be a significant force in community-led regeneration. This year we published a new Environmental Policy and commitments to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
We are seeking two trustees. For both positions, applicants should have significant knowledge, skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Conservation and heritage/community led regeneration
- Architecture / and or developer of relevant historic building projects
- Audit, banking or accounting experience
- Experience of running a social enterprise, charity or SME
One of the positions needs to be filled by someone with considerable experience of the knowledge, skills and experience areas within Scotland. This trustee will join our Grants Panel.
To help address current under-representation on the Board, and in accordance with our new quality, diversity and inclusion commitments, we particularly welcome applications from people from ethnic minorities, younger people who might be early or mid-stage in their career and those working in organisations in economically deprived areas of the UK.
