IHBC features ‘Heritage from the doorstep’: Inside the abandoned American cottage that overlooks a North Wales village

An urban explorer has revealed pictures of a fascinating, abandoned cottage on the ‘outskirts of Wales’ and dubbed the ‘American Cottage’, writes North Wales Live.

…[John Williams] emigrated to America in the mid 1800s and staked a claim on a piece of land. Unfortunately the claim was not honoured so John was forced to return to Wales….

North Wales Live writes:

The property has been empty for an unknown amount of years but newspapers found in the house date back to September 1970.

An American property developer, named John Williams is believed to be the man who built the house. He emigrated to America in the mid 1800s and staked a claim on a piece of land.

Unfortunately the claim was not honoured so John was forced to return to Wales and remain in the cottage and the locals from the nearby village called his house America because of his disappointment….

Yorkshire-based Urban Explorer Kyle Urbex told North Wales Live of his experience when visiting the house earlier this year.
