SHBT Conservation Adviser Chris Reynolds said: ‘We are looking for excellent projects which have either led to the repair of part or all of a historic building, or to the construction of an outstanding extension or new building in a historic setting. Eligible projects can include the sensitive repair of a building, the conservation of a key architectural feature, or even small-scale work such as repointing or re-roofing.’

… The Surrey Heritage Awards 2022 will celebrate building conservation and restoration work carried out in Surrey between 2018 and 2021.

There are many amazing heritage projects taking place around the county – and the Surrey Historic Buildings Trust (SHBT) would like to hear about them. There are two main categories of award and projects can be nominated for one or both. These categories are: Best Building Conservation Project and Best Building Craftsmanship.

The award for Best Building Conservation Project will go to the project that demonstrates the highest standards in conservation, repair or sympathetic new design, while the award for Best Building Craftsmanship recognises outstanding craftsmanship including attention to detail and use of traditional workmanship.

Any structure can be submitted provided it is in the administrative county of Surrey. Projects can be nominated by any individual or organisation, but you will need permission from the owner first.

Applicants are invited to submit photographs which show the building before and after the work was carried out with a short statement explaining why the project has been a success from a conservation point of view.

The closing date for applications is Monday 6 December 2021.

The winner will be announced at the Surrey Heritage Awards ceremony on 30 March 2022 at Brooklands Museum, Weybridge….
