Check out #IHBC25: 25 years since we turned professional – with ideas invited on marking our heritage and while looking ahead

Our new subscription year – April 2022 to March 2023 – will see the IHBC mark a quarter of a century since our incorporation as a professional body supporting and accrediting built and historic environment conservation specialists, so we’re kick-starting it by launching the logo inviting your ideas on how to mark this special year!

‘… delighted to welcome the launch of a year of activities and events to mark….#IHBC25…’

IHBC’s President Mike Brown and IHBC Chair David McDonald, representing the IHBC’s Council and Board respectively, said jointly: ‘We’re delighted to welcome the launch of a year of activities and events to mark the IHBC’s 25th anniversary, #IHBC25.’

‘… we will adopt a suitably sustainable conservation strategy…’

‘Most will guess that we will want to look at our future as much as our past, and push ahead with our modernisation informed by our unique heritage.  So we will adopt a suitably sustainable conservation strategy, and use our history to inform our future.’

‘Of course the IHBC’s newly elected Board will have to scrutinise our current plans, so for now we’re calling on all members and tiers of governance – Council, Committees, Branches and members – to think about how you might like to join in or contribute.’

‘… making headway on the digital infrastructure for #IHBC25 – inspired by our IHBC@COP26 Helpdesk+ service…’

‘In the meantime we’re making headway on the digital infrastructure for #IHBC25 – inspired by our IHBC@COP26 Helpdesk+ service – to let us mark the IHBC’s progress efficiently and cost-effectively.’

IHBC Treasurer Jill Kerry and IHBC Secretary Jo Evans said: ‘We’re delighted to be able to adopt a strategy for IHBC25 that makes the most of the institute’s proven digital skills and hard-won resources.’

‘We will mark the anniversary across our new subscription year.  This means we can continue to invest in re-building Branches and member and volunteer networks as we move on past the pandemic’s depredations.’

‘… especially keen to hear suggestions from Branches and volunteers…’

IHBC Vice Chair Lone Le Vay said: ‘Following on from our successful Branch Reconnection Day last November, and the additional fund allocations to Branches, we’re of course especially keen to hear suggestions from Branches and volunteers on how best to mark and celebrate our anniversary.’

IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said: ‘Our new – and accessible – digital platform will support the communications infrastructure and legacy marking our 25th anniversary: #IHBC25.’

‘For now, using the resources listed below where helpful, please do feel free to email your thoughts and suggestions, to Jude Wheeler, our Branch Support Officer, at support@ihbc.org.uk.  Or you can just post them on your social media platforms, tagged with #IHBC25.

‘We’ll have the web resource in place as soon as it’s signed off or – in Beta version – maybe even before that.  To help spur your thoughts, we’ve selected some more accessible online prompts and resources below’
