BEFS/HES refresh Our Place in Time: Public events to refresh Scotland’s historic environment strategy, from 09/08

Historic Environment Scotland (HES) is leading a review of Scotland’s Our Place in Time (OPiT) strategy, so BEFS with HES and the Scottish Government are working together on events – from 9/08 on – to engage the historic environment sector, sector partners, funding and development organisations, and Local Authorities.

… Scotland’s historic environment is an important part of the fabric of our society…

BEFS writes:

Scotland’s historic environment is an important part of the fabric of our society and contributes significantly to our nation’s economic, environmental, social, and cultural wellbeing.

The world has changed since Scotland’s historic environment strategy [OPiT] was first published in 2014. To ensure that our strategy is fit for purpose as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, HES has been commissioned by Scottish Ministers to lead a review of OPiT and is committed to publishing a new strategy in 2023 that will focus on the contribution that the historic environment can make to recovery and renewal.

BEFS are working with HES and the Scottish Government on these events, designed to engage the historic environment sector, related sector partners, as well as funding and development organisations, and Local Authorities.

As an individual or organisation previously involved with the OPiT process and OPiT working groups, we want to find out how the process has worked for you, and what future delivery could look like. We will also explore sector priorities and outcomes….

Places at each workshop (whether in-person or on-line) are strictly limited, so please do sign-up at your earliest convenience should you wish to attend.
