New Scottish Planning Circular on ‘Local Place Plans’

Scotland’s Planning circular 1/2022 – Local Place Plans – provides guidance to communities and planning authorities on the preparation, submission and registration of Local Place Plans.

…legislative requirements for the preparation, submission and registration of Local Place Plans…

The Scottish Government writes:

This circular provides guidance to Community Bodies and planning authorities on the legislative requirements for the preparation, submission and registration of Local Place Plans, as set out in:

  • the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 (the 1997 Act) as amended by the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019[1]; and
  • the Town and Country Planning (Local Place Plans) (Scotland) Regulations 2021[2] (the 2021 Regulations).

The circular also includes some guidance on matters which are not explicitly required by legislation, but which can support the process and help to ensure the legal requirements can be met.
