The range is no less impressive across less prominent employers, with Internships at Sefton Council, the City of London’s call for 4 Planning Officer (Design) posts; The Landmark Trust’s notice for a Regional Surveyor/Architect and The Georgian Group’s openings for Conservation Advisers (South of England and Wales).

Local councils remain key community service providers of heritage advice and support, and of attendant posts and careers.  Sefton again features (Heritage at Risk), as well as Nottingham and East Devon (Planning Conservation Officers).  Similar core skills sets – rooted in the IHBC’s Areas of Competences – would be appropriate for Lewisham’s Design and Conservation Officer; Hackney’s Principal Conservation and Design Officer; North Warwickshire‘s Heritage & Conservation Officer and the Built Heritage Officer post in Fife.  At the same time a more project-led background is suggested in Mansfield‘s Project Officer post.

Moving beyond these paradigms, two church posts reveal similar variations in focus.  Exeter’s Church Building Adviser and CBSC Secretary looks to the management and procedural side of conservation practice, while the Churches Conservation and Development Officer at the Diocese of St Asaph maps to a more pro-active position.

Private sector roles are, quantitatively, relatively modest this round but no less significant, as Roger Mears seeks a Part II/Part III Architect and Acanthus Clews a ‘Qualified and Accredited’ Architect or Surveyor.
