HES Regulatory Framework: ‘How we provide regulatory and advisory services in the planning and other consenting systems’

The new Historic Environment Scotland (HES) framework document explains HES’s approach to regulatory and advisory services in the planning and other consenting systems, and is designed for anyone who engages with these services or wants to understand more about its decisions and advice.

HES writes:

This document explains HES’s approach to our regulatory and advisory services in the planning and other consenting systems. It’s designed for anyone who engages with these services or wants to understand more about the decisions we take and the advice we give.

It also describes the goals and principles that underpin our work and how we will respond to challenges facing Scotland, including the climate emergency and ecological crisis. We are committed to using our regulatory and advisory roles to take positive action and will do so in a way that ensures change in the historic environment is carefully considered and opportunities are grasped.
