IHBC launches online co-working, assisting applications for Affiliate membership and beyond: First session 9 August, 1.00-2.15pm

Building on the success of our Supporter Surgeries programme, the IHBC is launching a series of online co-working spaces designed to help anyone applying for formal assessment by the IHBC make space in their busy schedules and advance their membership application.

… members can drop into whichever sessions fit into their schedule…

Anna Hart, IHBC’s Education, Training and Application Support Officer said: ‘The initiative is our response to feedback received at various training events and supporter surgeries and recognises that whilst many Supporters are keen to progress their applications for IHBC membership, the pressures of high workloads mean that it is challenging to find the time to get it done. Whilst the 8-week plan still represents a commitment of time, members can drop into whichever sessions fit into their schedule and hopefully make progress towards their goal of Assessed Membership within a shortened timeframe.’

‘Sessions will typically start with a brief introduction offering an opportunity to meet with other members across the UK who are working on their applications, as well as a chance to ask questions. Then there will be 50 minutes or so of focused working time, which attendees can use as they see fit, to collate information and begin writing their application statements, before a final feedback session with the option to share progress in the session. It is intended to be an informal and supportive environment’.

The IHBC writes:

The sessions will be run as part of an 8-week pilot throughout August and September, during which members will be able to join a weekly meeting online, where they will have a chance to get their questions about IHBC membership answered and benefit from a focused and supportive co-working space in which to make progress on completing their application form.

These weekly sessions will be held on a Wednesday afternoon, between 1.00 pm and 2.15 pm, and are intended to help members carve out some time in their busy schedules in order to progress their applications, and get them ready to submit. The first session will run on Wednesday 9 August at 1.00 pm.

Anyone wishing to attend should contact Anna Hart to book their place in the first cohort.

Whilst there is no obligation for attendees to attend all eight sessions or submit their application at the end of the eight weeks, it is hoped that they will at least feel a lot more confident about the process, and closer to submitting their completed application.

Full details of the Supporter co-working sessions can be found on the Affiliate webpage, which can be found at affiliate.ihbc.org.uk, which also has useful information on the Affiliate application process, including the new guidance, application form and details of the monthly Supporter Surgeries.
