How do we support a rapid, just, and equitable transition away from coal?

Report | As countries seek to end their dependence on coal, they will face complex trade-offs. Our report seeks to support key decision-makers in their planning stage.

It outlines a ‘Just Transition Planning’ and ‘Prioritisation’ frameworks for repurposing or retiring coal-fired power plants. Together, they provide a valuable foundation to inform roadmaps, policies and financial instruments needed to drive a just coal-to-clean energy transition.

Boosting energy efficiency innovation with the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero

Impact story | Industry remains one of the largest emitters globally. In the UK alone, it accounts for 15% (78 megatonnes of CO2e) of the nation’s annual emissions.

To tackle this, in 2017, the Carbon Trust helped to set up the Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator (IEEA). This programme was designed to support partnerships between developers of efficient technologies and industrial companies willing to demonstrate innovations on-site.
