IHBC welcomes renewal of CSCS Professionally Qualified Person (PQP) approval: Underpinning IHBC’s future, from membership recognition to potential charter

Following the IHBC’s successful completion of the new annual CSCS Safety Culture audit inspection for Professionally Qualified Persons (PQP), the institute has welcomed renewed of approval for accredited IHBC members (Associates and Full Members).

… annual audits are essential for CSCS…

Chris Wood, IHBC Education Committee Chair said: ‘We are delighted that the IHBC’s accreditation and regulatory processes continue to be recognised under this core quality assurance test from the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), operated in line with the Construction Leadership Council’s standards.’

‘This reaffirms that the IHBC’s own assessment and regulation of interdisciplinary built and historic environment conservation practice sit squarely alongside more traditional disciplines and practices, from archaeology to architecture and design to planning.’

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘If we do petition for a Charter, this regulatory approval will add further to the standing of our unique approach to interdisciplinary conservation practice.’

CSCS writes:

…We extend our gratitude for your participation in completing the CSCS Safety Culture PQP audit inspection. Your time and cooperation have been invaluable.

These annual audits are essential for CSCS to ensure your continued adherence to the Construction Leadership Council Requirements regarding the standards used in card issuance.

They have also proven to be a valuable tool for updating our contact lists and gaining insights into the measures you have implemented to combat fraud.

Card and qualification fraud remains an ongoing challenge for CSCS and the CSCS Alliance card schemes. In the upcoming weeks, we will carefully review your responses to enhance the effectiveness of this process in our collective fight against fraud.

We can confirm that your PQP card recognition meets the criteria for the next 12 months, at which point you will be required to complete the Safety Culture audit again.
