IHBC’s Christmas Greetings & Reflections from the Chair

IHBC’s Chair David McDonald has offered seasonal greetings from the IHBC to all IHBC members and NewsBlog readers, alongside brief, headline reflections on 2023 and 2024.

David McDonald said: ‘I’d like to wish all IHBC members and NewsBlog readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

‘For me, 2023 has passed all too quickly. It is a relief to have put the trials of Covid behind us and it has been refreshing to start having some in-person meetings again and escape the tyranny of the computer screen!’

‘On the other hand, legislative and policy changes are unrelenting, and the need to respond to all the issues around climate change is a constant.’

‘I am pleased that to date the response to our consultations on a possible IHBC Petition for Charter has been generally positive while work on our Annual School is making excellent progress, with a sterling cast lined up for our Day School on 14 June in Reading – #IHBCReading2024 – looking at our finance and policy-related Competences, all kindly hosted but our South Branch.

‘I look forward to us moving these headline matters forward in 2024, as always, assisted by the IHBC’s wonderful staff and volunteers’.
