IHBC features ‘Heritage from the doorstep’: Ayrshire pre-WW2 water tank to be turned into luxury three-bedroom home

A pre-World War 2 water tank – a giant concrete structure almost the same size as a football pitch – is to be turned into luxury three-bedroom home and countryside home, reports Ayrshire Live.

A stunning pre-World War 2 water tank will be given a new lease of life as a luxury home – after proposals to develop it were approved by South Ayrshire Council planners.

Plans were drawn up to convert the two-storey Catcraig Water Tank, on the outskirts of Dundonald, and make it fit for 21st century living.

Behind the ambitious plans were Ayr firm LMA Architects, who said the water tank, which is almost the same size as a football pitch, boasted “unique architectural character” which makes the structure “a building of particular merit” and “worthy of being protected.”
