IHBC features ‘Heritage from the doorstep’: Call out for statue specialists as part of George Square transformation

The revamp of Glasgow’s George Square has taken a fresh step forward with Glasgow City Council seeking specialists on the restoration of the square’s 11 landmark statues, reports Scottish Construction Now.

Scottish Construction Now writes:

The experts will ensure the authority has the necessary knowledge… several of which are A-listed….

The notice for the statue experts has now been issued and is the next stage in the project’s progress..

Glasgow has a portfolio of outdoor sculptural bronze which matches or exceeds any city in the UK outside of London…

Councillor Susan Aitken, leader of Glasgow City Council, said: ‘This is very niche, highly specialised and painstaking work…’
