HLF extends crowdfunding programme

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has extended its pilot UK crowdfunding scheme until the end of February.

From total funding £125,000, the Crowdfunder website will pledge up to 25% of the target on behalf of the Heritage Lottery Fund to a maximum of £10,000 when the following conditions are met:

  • projects take place in the UK
  • applications are led by a not-for-profit organisation
  • all eligibility criteria have been verified
  • projects raising a minimum of £4,000
  • projects use the ‘All-or-Nothing’ funding option only
  • approval has been received from the appropriate Heritage Lottery Fund Head of Region or Country
  • project reaches 25% funded
  • funding has come from at least five unique backers.

Pledges will be applied on a first come, first served basis until all funds have been allocated. The match-funding pledge will be allocated prior to the project close date.

The HLF cites the examples of Penzance’s Montol 10th Anniversary Appeal when the Cornish Culture Association raised more than £4,000 from 128 backers to secure the future of the annual Festival. The HLF contribution was £1,000 of matched funding (25% of the fundraising target).
