The Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF) has published its ‘Annual Review’ for 2016/17.

This year’s review highlights the range of successful heritage, community and social enterprise projects we have helped support over the course of the past year. The Review also highlights the wider impacts of our work, and, for the first time, our approach to measuring our impact has been externally reviewed and assessed by our auditors. This will help us to further develop our approach over the course of the coming year. You can read the full results of our 2016/17 client survey alongside our Annual Review.
This year, 56% of enquiries to the AHF have come from community enterprises – up from 33% in 2015-16. It provides evidence that widening the scope of who the AHF supports, coupled with the advice and guidance of our network of specialist support officers, is increasing demand from new organisations for our advice and investment. It also supports our aims of increasing the visibility of historic buildings and how their sustainable, adaptive reuse can benefit local communities and create significant social impact.
We also continue to have an impact on historic buildings at risk, across the UK. This year four projects we have supported have been removed from the Heritage at Risk Register in England, including:
- Lower Lodge, Ashton Court, Bristol
- Argos Hill Windmill, Mayfield
- Sandycombe Lodge, Twickenham
- Bawdsey Transmitter Block, Bawdsey
