The IHBC’s South West Branch is offering ‘An afternoon with Charles Mynors’, IHBC Full Member, heritage law expert and IHBC Legal Panel member, covering matters that include curtilage, on 16 March with questions to be submitted in advance; @ £10 (+booking fee), Devon County Hall, Exeter, 16 March.
IHBC South West Branch writes:
Dr Mynors has written extensively on the law in relation to the historic environment.
His book’, Changing Churches: a practical guide to the faculty system’, was published by Bloomsbury in June 2016. The most recent edition (fifth) co-written with Nigel Hewitson of ‘Listed Buildings and Other Heritage Assets’, was published late 2017.
This afternoon will look at the issue of the extent of listing, with regard to section 1(5) of the [1990] Act: covering
- How to determine curtilage
- What is the curtilage of a building
- The Wednesbury tests of reasonableness
There will also be an opportunity for questions from the floor. These are to be submitted in advance to ihbcsw.events@gmail.com
Note: this afternoon will rehearse many of the issues previously discussed at the Heritage in Law conference in Bristol in June 2017.
