Are you thinking about making your full membership application to IHBC? Not sure where to start? Come and join your local MATE (Membership Application Training Event)! The aim is to demystify the application process and help you to determine how to approach the all important competence case studies.
Kate Kendall, IHBC’s Learning Education, Training and Standards (LETS) Officer will be running an IHBC MATE session, for people interested in joining the IHBC or upgrading their membership and along with full member Christina Sinclair. Come along it is free of charge and there will be refreshments provided.
Kate will provide a presentation on the IHBC membership process then move onto breaking down the competences which will allow attendees to ask questions about their own applications and case studies. Christina, Senior Heritage Consultant from Purcell and Full NW Branch member will also be in attendance to share her recent experience of going through the process along with some helpful hints and tips about how to approach the application.
Alfie Stroud who recently attended one of the London Branch MATE sessions and has successfully attained his Full membership said: ‘The MATE session I attended was encouraging, enlightening and extremely practically helpful. I left the MATE session armed with notes that I would refer to all through the period I was compiling and writing my application, and with confidence that pursuing full membership would be worthwhile. Discussing the application with colleagues from such a range of backgrounds helped me reflect on all the areas of competence and work into my weaker spots, something that’s given more direction to my CPD too. The testimonial application process is challenging and rightly requires real effort, but the chance to reflect on what I know and how I know it was ultimately professionally and personally rewarding: a labour of love!’
