Civic Voice writes:

The government will bring forward most of its controversial package of new permitted development rights (PDR) and use class uses that aim to boost viability of nation’ high streets, but it is still considering proposals to allow office demolition for new homes, housing secretary James Brokenshire announced last week.

Civic Voice has provided a briefing to Civic Voice members on this issue.

The announcement about the changes to permitted development rights follows on from the recent Civic Voice Parliamentary meeting on High Streets. In response to questions raised about PDR: High Streets Minister, Jake Berry MP stated that the policy has created many new homes. Government clearly see PDR as part of the solution to delivering the homes needed. At Civic Voice, we are asking, are the quality of these homes via PDR being aligned with the Building Better Commission? There seems to be a contradiction in Government policy at the moment! Please keep sharing your examples of poor quality design so we can continue to brief the Government…
