Join in IHBC’s Council+ this St George’s Day, and even suggest or present your own ‘big picture’ theme or topic, 23 April, London,

peopleIHBC’s Council+ meetings offer members of any category or stage of learning the chance to explore the institute’s work and contribute to its development, and for our Spring event in London on 23 April – St. George’s Day – we’re focussing on ‘big picture’ content suggested and/or led by volunteers, so please do contact Fiona Newton at operations@ihbc.org.uk so she can coordinate your suggestions and offers.

NB: Only 3-4 topics can be covered in this Council+, due to time, with each to be led by an IHBC member of ANY category.  Free delegate places – with travel etc. paid – also are available, but limited, so if you are interested in a free and targeted CPD day, put it that date in your diary anyway and be sure to contact your local Branch or Fiona direct to note your interest.

Fiona Newton, IHBC’s National Office lead for Council+, said: ‘We hope that for this Council+ IHBC Members will highlight strategic themes they feel should be discussed, and perhaps offer to help lead short sessions on them.  If something is important to you then you may be well placed to help others understand and consider it.’

‘We already have possible interest in climate change and diversity, so if you have a burning big picture subject which you think needs Council+ to consider then please get in touch with me at operations@ihbc.org.uk.

‘If you don’t have a subject in mind but would like to attend just to find our more, do contact me as well, as there will be lots to learn from those who do’.

‘The 23rd April is St George’s Day.  Of course St George wasn’t English, wasn’t a knight, never visited England and didn’t slay a dragon* and he wasn’t an IHBC Member. But the 23rd April is also the date of the next IHBC Council+ meeting!’

‘As Henry V might have said, had he too been a member of IHBC:

‘Once more unto the Council Plus, dear friends, once more;……

…………………………………………………………………

I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,

Straining upon the start. The game’s afoot:

Follow your spirit, and upon this charge

Cry ‘God for Harry, IHBC, and Saint George!’’’
