Rock star Ricky Wilson made changes to his Grade II-listed home in Cornwall without planning permission (PP), including the installation of a secret shelving door to the library, reports Cornwall Live.

Rock star Ricky Wilson made changes to his Grade II-listed home in Cornwall without planning permission.

The Kaiser Chiefs’ frontman and former The Voice judge bought Stratton House in Falmouth in 2012 after falling in love with the town.

The singer, 43, used his Cornish home, which is believed to have been built in 1797, as a bolthole away from the pressures of fame…

… Wilson spent four years and £500,000 renovating the house, which is a stone’s throw from the town centre.

And a new planning application recently submitted to Cornwall Council reveals that he carried out some of the works before being given planning permission.

The application is for a ‘listed building consent for the retention of variations to refurbishment and alteration works previously approved under application PA12/08920 together with retrospective consent for the retention of works approved under application PA12/08920 but completed prior to discharge of relevant planning conditions’.

It was submitted by CAD Architects Limited on behalf of Simon Williams…

Although Wilson did get planning permission for some of the works, the application states that others were started without consent on September 26, 2013, and completed without consent on September, 26, 2015…

The application will be considered by Cornwall Council…
