#IHBCBrighton2021 welcomes more virtual ‘Heritage MarketPlace’ stalls and learning: Lottery, CIOB Academy, HE, HES, BEFS, ICON, YALE UP, IHBC’s CPP APPG, Energy Savers, DB Wiki, HTN, THA, Hirst & Murphy Associates – offering dedicated virtual sessions from casework, products and practice to BPNs, advocacy, funding priorities and more!

The IHBC is delighted to welcome another round of stall listings to the 2021 Brighton School’s learning-led ‘Heritage MarketPlace’ on 18 June, which offers stallholders access to the IHBC’s School networks, promotion and learning for 6+ months for only c.£100+VAT, including a Day School place!

  • IHBC Conservation Places and People (CPP) All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Secretariat/David Blackman, offering ‘Lessons in serving as Secretariat to an active APPG
  • Historic England which offers an update on its pilot scheme for Building Preservation Notice (BPN) indemnification pilot with DCMS, helping increase awareness of interim protection methods, including how to request indemnification from HE in the serving of a BPN
  • Heritage Trust Network, which is a membership organisation made up of over 400 groups and trusts across the UK who are involved in the restoration and preservation of our built heritage, and is looking at Solutions that trusts and community groups can offer to heritage at risk’
  • Designing Buildings Wiki: the construction industry knowledge base used by 8.5 million people a year to find and share knowledge, answering ‘the serious problems practitioners have accessing knowledge’
  • Barton Willmore Heritage, where the team is commited to de-risking the planning process, and who are exploring the theme: ‘Heritage-led Placemaking: Making a difference’
  • Built Environment Forum Scotland (BEFS), the umbrella body for organisations working in the built environment in Scotland, and though unable to open their stall on the day due to capacity, is encouraging delegates to ‘explore the Advocacy Toolkit available on their website’, and ‘keen for organisations to get in touch about the range of policy areas we cover’
  • Murphy Associates, Planning Consultants local to Brighton & Hove and beyond, offering casework case studies from the Brighton & Hove area in particular
  • CIOB Academy, which offers courses designed to help those in construction or new to the industry further their careers and is happy to be advised on content by IHBC School MarketPlace delegates, so please feel free to get in touch
  • The Energy Savers Ltd which offers learning on how the Quattro Seal draught sealing system has been used in hundreds of historic sites to increase airtightness and eradicate unwanted cold air ingress to increase thermal performance and cut energy usage and carbon emissions, with installations including Hampton Court Palace, The Tower of London, Marlborough House, Wills Memorial Building, Bodleian Library, Royal College of Physicians, The Tate Gallery, The National Maritime Museum, Fishmongers Hall, Belfast Castle and hundreds of National Trust properties
  • Yale University Press (Yale UP) publishers, due to capacity, is not able to open the stall on 18th June, but notes that Pevsner’s Series Editor Charles O’Brien will take questions as part of his afternoon Day School presentation -linked to local listing (queries, questions and observations may be submitted online by School Delegates HERE) – and is delighted to offer £10 off the latest addition to the Pevsner ‘Buildings of England’ series: Wiltshire
  • National Lottery Heritage Fund, the largest dedicated funder of heritage in the UK, looking at their priorities for applicants in 2021/22, focussing on its mandatory outcome to engage a wider range of people
  • Rebuilding Heritage, a free support programme coordinated by The Heritage Alliance (THA) and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, on support on offer and how it can help, as well as tips on submitting your application
  • Historic Environment Scotland/University of Stirling, with a new IHBC-recognised Master of Science Degree course, professional body ICON, and
  • Hirst Conservation Ltd, conservation and restoration services provider, are all looking to be advised by delegates on what they’d like to hear about, as described HERE!

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘It’s great to see the wide-ranging networks and diverse learning accessible to Brighton 2021 School delegates through our innovative – and learning-led – Brighton School ‘Heritage Marketplace’.

As this kind of ‘virtual’ engagement may be new for many, we’re still hosting support sessions to advise and guide Stallholders, and make sure any learning offers are as useful as possible for everyone.’
