IHBC’s governance & constitutional review: Mark 2

The review of the IHBC’s governance, centred on the update of the constitution, continues into a new phase as many council members have benefited from briefing and tools to help them promote discussion across our membership.

Most council members have already spent an afternoon sampling the review process.  This should help them facilitate wider consideration of the issues.  Having explored and scrutinised the consultation issues, and considered for themselves the strengths and weaknesses of different models of governance, they are in a much stronger position to promote further discussion across and within the Branches, as time and diaries allow of course.

The new discussion document may be downloaded below, while it may also come to members through Branch promotion.  Although the paper is designed first as a primer for Branch representatives or trustees to facilitate wider discussion, members and any others should also feel free to comment appropriately in their own right on the principles, issues and models considered there – ideally by using track changes on the document – and return it back to a relevant Branch Chair, council representative and/or the IHBC director, at director@ihbc.org.uk, as they see fit.
