Easier IHBC Affiliate applications UPDATE: Support now includes new video screencast, all IHBC CPD too!

The IHBC has launched a suite of new help and guidance to make it easier for our Supporter members to advance to the new Affiliate member category, including a dedicated web page; surgeries and more recently a video screencast by Anna Hart, IHBC’s lead on the new support programme.

…#ihbcsurgery – our new drop-in Supporter Surgeries…

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘Our new suite of resources makes it much simpler for all our Supporters to secure IHBC Affiliate membership.  This base line of IHBC assessment is now more accessible, inclusive and, critically, more responsive to the full diversity of our members and their backgrounds.’

‘The new formats are streamlined so applications for our most skilled and busy Supporters are more straightforward.  At the same time more flexible approaches to guidance mean early career Supporters can access the best support to suits their personal needs, whatever their background interests and level of practice.  Either way, there are now more varied pathways to confirm your abilities and or advance your career with the IHBC.’

… Special thanks are due to our new Training Officer Anna Hart…

‘The new support includes revised and simplified application forms and more summary guidance, as well as entirely new strands.  These range from drop-in surgeries to a forthcoming video screencast.  For convenience too, all now come together under a single Affiliate Application web page HERE.’

‘Special thanks are due to our new Training Officer Anna Hart who has led on delivering this broader support.  We now have an integrated platform suited to anyone with a conservation interest – however skilled or unskilled – to look to a first step in demonstrating their support for the IHBC’s holistic and forward-looking conservation objectives.’

‘And it’s all potentially your IHBC CPD too, so please don’t wait to cross our base-line assessment threshold.’

Anna Hart, IHBC’s Education, Training and Application Support Officer said: ‘The new application form aims to streamline the Affiliate assessment process by providing applicants with a single web information point, a simplified layout, and a step-by-step guide to secure their Affiliate membership.’

… now the new video screencast….presents the information in a more engaging format…

‘The pared-back form is accompanied by a separate revised guidance document, and now the new video screencast that presents the information in a more engaging format, complete with downloadable transcript.  We are sure that this will make the resources more accessible to the broadest spectrum of our prospective audiences.’

‘The resources sit on our new dedicated Affiliate Application webpage, which provides further guidance and walks applicants through the application process in a clear and structured way’.

The new webpage also includes links to the new Application Form and, critically, the linked guidance.  It also has details of our new drop-in Supporter Surgeries – #ihbcsurgery with more updates on this programme to come on the IHBC’s NewsBlogs, when available, HERE.  These surgeries – initially monthly – are free to attend and no booking is necessary. Initial links to attend are also posted on the Affiliate webpage.’

Anyone who wants further support but is unable to attend one of the Supporter Surgeries is encouraged to contact Anna Hart at training@ihbc.org.uk who will look to arrange additional dates, and even arrange for dedicated support from the IHBC as capacity allows.’

See the new Affiliate Application web page HERE, with the screencast now available too.
