The National Retrofit Hub have established six thematic working groups, made up of a wide range of industry experts, with outputs to help enable faster delivery of retrofit across the UK.

The National Retrofit Hub writes:

The outputs of these working groups will help enable faster delivery of retrofit across the UK. The scope, objectives and actions of these working groups are being collaboratively developed by their members. We will share news and updates from each group as soon as they are available.

WORKING GROUP 1
WARM, HEALTHY, NET ZERO

Scope

  • Standardised solutions for performance and technology
  • Digital whole house plan
  • Performance criteria, monitoring and data collection

….The Warm, Healthy, Net Zero working group launched in May 2023 with over 30 representatives from across the sector. The working group has mapped gaps, targets and outcomes aligned to 4 key themes. Sub-groups are being formed to progress the priorities for each of the 4 key themes….

WORKING GROUP 2
SUPPLY CHAIN, PRODUCTS & SOLUTIONS

Scope

  • Delivering a solution agnostic approach to products, technologies and services
  • Overcoming barriers to supply chain and innovation….

….We’re delighted to introduce you to new Co-Chairs of Working Group 2. Please welcome, Megan Adlen – Group Sustainability Director at Travis Perkins plc – and Jade Lewis – Chief Executive of the Sustainable Energy Association. A special thank you to John Newcombe, Chief Executive of Builders Merchants Federation, for launching our working group and shaping our scope of work.

WORKING GROUP 3
WORKFORCE GROWTH & SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Scope

  • Skills accreditation and competencies definitions
  • Curriculum reform: links with broader climate change education and LA training

….The Workforce, Growth and Skills Development Working Group launched in May 2023. The group is collaborating with the supply chain, training providers and retrofit clients to undertake research to map skills pathways, and to identifying the gaps in skills and training.

WORKING GROUP 4
FINANCE

Scope

  • Improved Assessment process linked to whole house plan and carbon savings
  • Funding through LA and government inititatives

….is committed to breaking down barriers and creating better connections between banks & building societies and those delivering retrofit projects. On 25th October 2023 we co-hosted a roundtable discussion with the Green Finance Institute….

WORKING GROUP 5
DELIVERY APPROACHES

Scope

  • Demand Aggregation
  • Skills and requirements for LA retrofit programmes
  • Local supply chain engagement and mobilisation

….The Delivery Approaches Working Group launched in July 2023 with representation from broad range of experts from among Local Authorities, the private sector, financiers, academics, NGOs, and community energy groups. Six tightly defined task & finish groups have been established so that collective work can be undertaken and information can be shared.
