IHBC interests in New Year Honours

Links between the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) and the New Year Honours list reflect the institute’s small but increasingly significant role across the full diversity of heritage interests.

IHBC member Deborah Dance, director of the Oxford Preservation Trust, has received an OBE for services to heritage, while Tony Pidgley, chairman of developer the Berkeley Group and keynote speaker at the IHBC’s ‘Practitioner’s Forum’ in September 2012, was awarded a CBE for services to the housing sector and the community.

Overall the sector was not especially well represented, though in Scotland Pat Chalmers, Former Member, Glasgow City Council, received an OBE for services to built heritage in Glasgow.

Other associated sector interests included Iain Tuckett, group director of social enterprise, Coin Street Community Builders, who received an MBE for services to architecture and regeneration and Peter McNestry, chair of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, who received an MBE for services to coalfield communities.
