The Landmark Trust Building Preservation Trust (BPT) is offering 50 free self-catering breaks in its amazing historic buildings to charities and non-profit organisations for their nominees. The Landmark Trust is a building preservation charity that rescues and restores buildings at risk and then lets them for inspiring, restorative holidays.
Time away is precious: it restores hope and motivation, nurtures family relationships, provides the space to solve problems, reconnects us with the natural world, sometimes even heals hurt.
Now we want to extend the experience of staying in a Landmark Trust building to those who need it most. Through 50 for Free, we are making it possible for those who really deserve a break, for whatever reason, to feel restored and reinvigorated through a stay in a Landmark building.
Thanks to a generous supporter, in March 2014 we’re giving away 50 short breaks in some of our most treasured Landmarks across England, Scotland and Wales (and one in Italy) to charities, educational institutions and non-profit organisations.
We are asking eligible organisations to apply by a simple online form on behalf of people they think would particularly benefit from a stay in a Landmark building – for example respite stays for personal or professional carers, away-time to plan for the busy third sector, study breaks for students and teachers, a few days away for disadvantaged children’s groups or struggling families, or a thank you to valued volunteers.
Landmark will cover all accommodation costs. Applicants will need to be able to fund travel, food and any other associated costs for those on whose behalf they apply.
Our impulse is simply to spread the happiness that Landmarks can bring more widely, to do our bit to help others who may be finding life a little difficult, or who are working towards a worthwhile aim.??Our visitors tell us time and again that staying in Landmark’s buildings opens them to new experiences, brings their senses alive, inspires wonder and creativity and, as one said recently, ‘helps you to find your best self.’
