New international heritage crime publication

‘Stop Heritage Crime’ is a new international joint publication available free online, by the National Heritage Board of Poland and the Arts Council of Norway, written in English, which is complimentary to the work in England under ARCH, the Alliance to Reduce Crimes against Heritage.

The two countries have looked at the issue in its broadest manifestation from straightforward old-fashioned thieving to illicit trade. While the overriding concern in Britain is the theft of metals on an industrial scale (and it is known that some of the metals taken by gangs ends up back in Poland) one chapter of the report relates to a Polish database listing some 60,000 objects lost by private individuals, museums and churches during the Second World War.

The report is downloadable free from:  LINK
