Euro ‘Heritage Counts’ calls for non-UK evidence

The Europa Nostra initiative to emulate England’s Heritage Counts at European level is seeking evidence on economic, social, cultural and environmental impact of cultural heritage outside the UK to be submitted.

‘Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe: Towards a European Index for Cultural Heritage’ is the two-year project funded by the EU Culture Programme that aims to raise greater awareness on the multiple benefits of cultural heritage as the basis for policy development. It will identify gaps in existing research across Europe, suggest a future research agenda including developing a new methodology as well as make policy recommendations. The findings will be presented in Oslo on 12th June 2015.

As much of the data collected so far (40%) stems from the UK or English speaking sources, further evidence is sought particularly from Greece, Germany, Hungary, Cyprus, Portugal and Malta.
