IHBC’s Christmas Gift No.2: Historic England’s 50% cost reduction on images used in IHBC-supported Conservation Area Anniversary Celebrations Fund

secretlondon-purple-presentFollowing a request by the Huddersfield Civic Society to use IHBC Conservation Area Anniversary funds to help cover picture costs in their local celebratory publication, the IHBC is delighted to announce that Historic England will offer a 50% discount on fees for images for IHBC-supported publications and exhibitions, to cover supply and reproduction, and starting with the Huddersfield publication.

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘We’re delighted this generous offer from Historic England has been put in place so fast, and on the basis of a simple query.

Christopher Marsden MRes, Chair of the Huddersfield Civic Society said: ‘In support of Civic Day 2017 Huddersfield Civic Society is publishing ‘The Villas of Edgerton: Homes to a Victorian elite’ an illustrated history of the well-preserved leafy Huddersfield conservation area. Vintage photographs of the area’s discrete brass castles are hard to find. Sourcing such pictures has led to us reaching out to families in Yeovil (UK) and Brisbane (Australia), showing that, for civic societies, quality publishing on our heritage takes determination.  Any support by partners is welcomed, and the IHBC’s grant support for the celebration of the Conservation Area 50th Anniversary is a great help.’

‘The news that Historic England is supporting civic societies that receive IHBC conservation area anniversary funding is very encouraging. We especially welcome the half price offer for the supply and reproduction of archive material for our forthcoming book and we want to thank Historic England for its support.’

‘We say to other civic societies ‘Don’t be shy about taking up this support your 2017 conservation area projects’.’

Historic England writes:

Mike Evans, Historic England’s Head of Archive, has advised that to support celebration of the Conservation Area Anniversary, Historic England can offer a 50% discount on fees for supply and reproduction for any archive items which are used in civic society publications or exhibition projects which are supported by the IHBC Conservation Area anniversary celebration fund.
