IHBC members will find many current topics and new developments discussed in this first issue of Heritage Retrofit, with leading expert authors covering current and new thinking on everything from risks in retrofit (Iain McCaig) to heating national trust properties (Emma Griffiths) and insulation on timber framed buildings (Richard Demaus).

Publication editor, article author (and IHBC Full Member) Jonathan Taylor explains: ‘As an additional benefit of IHBC membership, you can receive a free copy of Cathedral Communications’ latest publication, ‘Heritage Retrofit’, which is packed with cutting edge research and new developments in sustainable technology.’

‘Older, traditionally constructed buildings in the UK probably contribute up to 46 million tonnes of CO2e – around 8 per cent of the UK’s total carbon emissions, mainly through heating.  We cannot ignore the pressure to upgrade these buildings, but as members of the IHBC know all too well, these buildings are easily damaged by inappropriate alterations. We need to challenge conventional solutions and develop new approaches. That’s why this new publication – and the forthcoming May edition of Context, are so important.’

Any IHBC members who have elected not to receive the publications from partner organisations, download a digital version of Heritage Retrofit.
