Skills:
- Government will make up to £450 million available to enable levy paying employers to transfer up to 25% of their funds to pay for apprenticeship training in their supply chains
- The government will provide up to £240 million, to halve the co-investment rate for apprenticeship training to 5%
- The government will fund £20 million of skills pilots.
Celebration:
- Government committed £120 million to a UK Festival of Innovation and Creativity
- Invest £8.5 million in Coventry’s plans to showcase the city when it hosts the UK City of Culture in 2021, including investment in Coventry’s Cathedral Quarter, the refurbishment of historic venues, the creation of additional exhibition space and a centre for music education and concerts.
- Up to £19 million to mark the centenary of the First World War including £8 million to help with the cost of repairs and alterations to village halls, Miners’ Welfare facilities and Armed Forces organisations’ facilities.
Investment:
- Local authorities will receive £420 million to fix potholes on roads and renew bridges and tunnels, and there will be a £150 million to improve local traffic hotspots such as roundabouts
- Housing Infrastructure Fund, funded by the NPIF, will increase by £500 million to a total £5.5 billion, unlocking up to 650,000 new homes
