HE survey of geospatial standards and skills for built and historic environment practitioners, closes 07/02

logoHistoric England (HE) is inviting built and historic environment sector professionals working on built or archaeological heritage to participate in a survey of geospatial standards and skills to inform its support for this skills area, closing 7 February.

…information about participants experience, use and understanding of geospatial standards, skills and knowledge…

HE, with consultants Helyx Secure Information Systems Ltd,  writes:

… A review of geospatial standards and skills in the Historic Environment sector…

Improved geospatial standards, skills and knowledge have the potential to dramatically increase the use and impact of heritage information both within and outside the historic environment sector. There is, however, a lack of detailed information to underpin initiatives that could support positive change.

This questionnaire is designed to capture detailed information about participants experience, use and understanding of geospatial standards, skills and knowledge. The results will be of huge potential value to a range of organisations and individuals, from commercial archaeological units, historic building experts, surveyors and planners, to curatorial staff. Summary results and key insights will be shared with all participants, and they will be used by Historic England to inform work on standards, commissioning projects and supporting a sector-wide skills programme.

  • Responses are anonymous.
  • The questionnaire will be open for completion until Monday 7th February.
  • There are 40 questions, the vast majority of which are multiple choice.
  • Sessions will time out after 20 minutes if there is no activity. Please remember to save your responses (by using the ‘Save and Continue Later‘ button) before leaving your session unattended as your responses will not be automatically saved!
  • The survey takes approximately 20 to 40 minutes to complete. You can save your answers and continue the survey later if you need to.
  • If you would like to view the questions before answering the survey, please click on the PDF or Excel links at the bottom of this page.

Historic England has contracted Helyx Secure Information Systems Ltd to compile the questionnaire and synthesise the results on their behalf.
