IHBC ToolBox Guidance on ‘Retrofit’: New update

The IHBC has updated its ToolBox practice Guidance Note on the Retrofitting of Traditional Buildings– first launched at one of the ‘IHBC Spotlight’ sessions at the 2019 Annual School in Nottingham – after author and IHBC Technical Panel Chair Prof. John Edwards revised content to reflect new developments since the last revision in 2021.

John Edwards said:

‘This IHBC Guidance Note goes beyond retrofit and expresses the holistic approach to improving the energy performance of buildings based on BS7913.’

‘This has now been updated to take account of the recent review of PAS2035, the BSI standard for retrofitting dwellings and publication of BSI PAS2038, the standard for non-domestic buildings which is also referenced.’

‘We are planning a short webinar on the updated IHBC Toolbox guidance, and I also look forward to incorporating this in my presentation to the IHBC’s 2022 Annual School in Aberdeen this June, and will include an illustration of online tools which are part of this process.’

‘I will also take a more detailed look at the guidance linked to Level 3 courses on retrofitting traditional buildings, and if anyone is interested in this they are welcome to contact me.’

The guidance is free to access and can be downloaded from the IHBC ToolBox located on the IHBC website.
