Staff changes at the IHBC: Carla (Support@ihbc.org.uk) moves on now, Kate (LETS@ihbc.org.uk) after 2019 Nottingham School – backups and replacements planned

personThe IHBC is sad to announce that two key professional personstaff members are moving on to new posts and opportunities, as Carla Pianese moves on now, to a new job in the arts industry in London, and Kate Kendall will take up a more senior full-time post at Historic England after the IHBC’s 2019 Nottingham School, while replacements are already being planned via our Jobs etc. service.

IHBC Chair James Caird said:  ‘We are of course very sorry to see both officers depart after periods of such excellent service. However we know that they are going on to bigger and better roles, and they will bring with them the deep experiences gained in the IHBC’s National Office and among our volunteers, as well as the key messages on all we do and hope to achieve.  We wish them well!’

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘These developments represent huge change for the IHBC, as we say au revoir to more than one third of our professional staff.  That the IHBC’s National Office is so small will come as a surprise to many I am sure, but this is in part because both have added so much to our capacity, and such depth to our ongoing operations and development.’

‘Kate will – thankfully – be with us until we can say a more formal au revoir at the Nottingham School, but Carla leaves this week.  Her role will be taken by our new interim ‘Services Officer’, Michael Netter, whom some have met already and who will be offering highly skilled continuity for the National Office at this critical time of transition.’

‘We will advertise for a replacement to build on for Kate’s highly specialised role next week, so do please keep an eye out on our Jobs etc. service!

Carla has written to volunteers as  follows:  ‘While I’m excited for the new opportunity ahead of me, leaving IHBC before the Annual School is definitely bittersweet, especially when we secured such a great cohort of heritage professionals and conference theme.  I am sure that the Annual School will be a success and a great learning opportunity and I hope that you will all be able to attend.’
