IHBC’s new learning and networking resource for all: 2021 Brighton School’s ‘Heritage MarketPlace’, #IHBCMarketPlacewith stalls from £100+VAT: 18 June 2021 (IHBC network reductions may apply)

The IHBC has launched a new learning and networking resource for practitioners, services, suppliers and clients with the 2021 Brighton School’s (#IHBCBrighton2021) learning-led ‘Heritage MarketPlace’ – the virtual expansion of the traditional School exhibition – an accessible platform to link heritage and conservation learning, networking, promotion and advocacy in and beyond the School, with stalls from £100+VAT (IHBC network reductions may apply).

… construction industry, including contractors, suppliers and more…

… access up 7 months and more of promotion…

The IHBC Brighton School ‘Heritage MarketPlace’ stallholders can range from private consultants and heritage advocates to educators and the wider construction industry, including contractors, suppliers and more, across public, private and third sectors.

The dedicated MarketPlace website offers background guidance and current learning opportunities including on the current list of Stallholders:

… unprecedented opportunities to select and engage with the most accessible spectrum of service providers, suppliers, trades…

IHBC Chair David McDonald said: ’Our 2021 Brighton Day School on 18 June offers two hours of learning-led member virtual engagement and networking at our School Heritage MarketPlace.  Delegates will have unprecedented opportunities to select and engage with the most accessible spectrum of service providers, suppliers, trades, sector advocates and interests from across the UK and, hopefully, beyond.’

‘Time will be tight across our busy Day School, so delegates will have to carefully select those stalls with content most useful to their practice needs, or those offering insights most relevant to their own services or careers.’

… Delegates can target up to 4 stall sessions…

‘Our continually evolving MarketPlace listing will help inform delegates about what will each stalls offers, as stallholders use that listing to highlight the learning and related opportunities available.’

‘Delegates can target up to 4 stall sessions at the Day School.  Some however may choose to just drop in on any stalls of interest, to get a sense of the broad landscape of built and historic environment conservation and its extensive networks and players!

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘The learning on offer at any stall will be critical to their success in attracting School delegates.  So the Stallholder’s fee – as well as including a place at the Day School itself – also includes guidance and training for stallholders on how to best to pitch the learning aspects of their service or operations to School delegates.’

… the best learning-led low-cost networking opportunities…

‘As the Stallholder repeats a 30-minute Stall session over the 2 hours that the MarketPlace is open – and as even that half hour should include 10-15 minutes of discussion and networking with delegates – stall set-up efforts are minimal.  This way, the MarketPLace offers the best learning-led low-cost networking opportunities for all involved’’

… a resource for ANYONE interested in what actually happens in the worlds of heritage and conservation…

‘Even more important though, is that from now till after the end of the 2021 School – over at least seven months – we’ll host the evolving MarketPlace listing as a resource for ANYONE interested in what actually happens in the worlds of heritage and conservation, in all their diversity!’

‘So stallholders can access up 7 months and more of promotion on the IHBC’s 2021 School website.  This offers a formal association with the IHBC’s celebrated tradition of Schools, for many years now key event in the calendar of built and historic environment conservations specialists across the UK!’

Terry Levinthal, Director of The Cockburn Association – Edinburgh’s Civic trust – and an early stallholder, said: ‘It’s fantastic to be part of this innovative MarketPlace initiative.’

‘Organisations big and small have had to make a huge shift into digital spaces. Whilst challenging in many ways, it has also opened up significant opportunities for outreach and engagement that would have been impossible for micro-organisations like ours.  Looking forward to helping IHBC develop this whilst seeing what it can do for us!’

Lucie Carayon, Director to the Ancient Monuments Society (AMS), said: ‘The AMS is delighted to be part of this brilliant initiative.’

‘The IHBC’s School Heritage MarketPlace is a great way for us to connect to heritage professionals and to develop stronger relationships across the sector.’

‘We look forward to explaining our role as statutory consultees in casework and exploring the benefits which engaging with the National Amenity Societies can have – not only for better outcomes in planning, but also on the educational side.’
