IHBC welcomes address by Welsh Government Deputy Minister for Arts, Sports & Tourism, Dawn Bowden MS, to the 2023 Day School – ‘Climate Change and the Historic Environment’ – 23 June, in Swansea and online: #IHBCSwansea2023

The IHBC warmly welcomes the agreement by Welsh Government Deputy Minister for Arts, Sports & Tourism, Dawn Bowden MS to address Day School delegates – in Swansea and online – at the IHBC’s 2023 Annual School:Climate Change the Historic Environment, Resilience and Performance’.

All School delegates receive priority access to the IHBC’s public, free and learning-led virtual ‘MarketPlace:LIVE’, on Wednesday 21 June, from 4.30-7.00pm, including the virtual launch of the Swansea School and ‘Happy Hour with the IHBC’ from 6.00pm.


The IHBC writes:

The Swansea School is the lead event in the 2023 calendar of the UK’s built and historic environment conservation specialists and takes place in Swansea on 21-24 June. With a portfolio that includes the Historic Environment in Wales and CADW and also having served on the Climate Change and Rural Affairs Committee Dawn Bowden is positioned to discuss the Welsh Government’s approach to the School’s central theme of Climate Change and the Historic Environment.

Dawn Bowden MS is Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport. She worked for the National Health Service and for Bristol City Council and rose through the ranks of her union to become the UNISON Cymru/Wales Head of Health, a position she held up to her election as Assembly Member for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney in May 2016.

Dawn was elected as a Member of the Senedd for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney in May 2016. In the last Senedd term, Dawn served on the Health, Social Care and Sport; Culture Welsh Language and Communications; External Affairs and Additional Legislation; Climate Change and Rural Affairs; Children, Young People and Education and Equalities, Local Government and Communities Committees. She also Chaired the Committee on Senedd Reform and represented the Welsh Parliament at the European Congress of Regions and was a Member of the Valleys Taskforce.
