IHBC’s to launch joint Conservation Professional Practice Principles at Manchester School, 23 June: Be there and see history… and collect a free copy!

IHBC Conservation Professional Practice Guide May 2017The IHBC will launch its joint ‘Conservation Professional Practice Principles’ on Friday 23 June at its Manchester Day School and conference, when delegates will receive free copies ‘hot off the press’ while lead author, IHBC’s Communications Secretary Dave Chetwyn, will introduce the new Principles in the context of the School’s theme, ‘Transport Infrastructure’.

IHBC Chair James Caird said: ‘This is first time the IHBC has developed its own Practice Principles.  We are especially pleased that they have been produced in a partnership with the Historic Towns and Villages Forum (HTVF) and the Civic Voice, which together represent key user and client groups responsible for the practical and sustainable care of our heritage.’

‘We are also delighted to be launching the Principles at our national conference and School, which this year is themed around ‘Infrastructure’.  Our Principles sets out the considerable breadth of heritage practice – even into the most challenging of heritage resources, such as infrastructure – and how, through our members, informed, conservation-led approaches can help secure the social, economic and environmental well-being of local communities alongside national priorities.’

Dave Chetwyn said ‘These Principles offer an overview of built and historic environment practice for conservation professionals across the United Kingdom. They raise awareness of the skills and specialisms necessary to properly manage, conserve and develop historic places and buildings, while also recognising international, national and devolved UK legislation, policy and statements, and how they operate in practice.’
