HESPR’s top pick from £150,000+ of costed work this week: London borough seeks ‘design brief & outline business case for a heritage & cultural centre’, closing 22 September, valued £65,000

The IHBC’s heritage business listing, HESPR – the Historic Environment Service Providers Recognition scheme – offers members a weekly ‘News and Tender Alert’ that brings business opportunities together into one handy resource – this week with costed work at £150,000 – while the IHBC Director’s top pick for NewsBlog readers this week features a call from the London Borough Of Barking And Dagenham for a ‘design brief and outline business case for a heritage and cultural centre’, closing 22 September and valued £65,000.

IHBC Chair James Caird said: ‘Our weekly Bulletin of current tender notifications to HESPR members is an innovative service that supports commercial conservation businesses that work to the IHBC’s standards and expectations.  These weekly selections offer the wider heritage world a regular insight into the conservation profession that we hope combine good news, sector profile and service inspiration all in one.’

Top tender pick of the week:

The IHBC Director’s pick from the HESPR News and Tender Alert for this week is a call from the London Borough Of Barking And Dagenham for the ‘Production of a design brief and outline business case for a heritage and cultural centre’.  The post notes that ‘Our recently adopted Borough Manifesto recognises the value of culture to boost our economy by creating jobs and supporting local people to realise their potential. This is an exciting but challenging commission that comprises the development of an outline business case and costed design plan for a new heritage and cultural centre of regional significance, on the site of the former Ford stamping plant. It will tell the story of the area’s industrial heritage but also support the development of new sustainable creative industries in the Borough. The new centre will celebrate the industrial achievements of the area, act as a cultural centre, community resource and social facility within the proposed housing development in which it will be located, and as a visitor destination. It will also provide affordable workspace to encourage job creation and a sustainable future for new and existing cultural practitioners.’

The work is valued at £65,000, and closes 22 September.
