TV seeks ‘historic re-buildings’ urgently

Television production company, Darlow Smithson Productions, is working on a major new architectural history series for the BBC and they are URGENTLY looking for historic vernacular buildings in the UK and Eire that are due for re-construction/relocation (for good conservation reasons, of course!).

The buildings can be of any period or style but must meet the following:

•Buildings that have either been part or completely dismantled and stored, that are due to be rebuilt;

•Or that are currently standing but due to be relocated in order to preserve them (with the knowledge that relocation is absolutely the last resort after efforts to restore in situ have failed);

•And that are scheduled for re-erection in 2010 – early 2011 (longer timescales would also be considered for a further series)

Each programme will follow a separate project from initial re-build to completion, whilst telling the story of the building’s past and the people who occupied it. The series aims to reveal the history of our ancestors, told through the architecture and construction of the vernacular buildings that shaped their everyday lives.

They are looking at everything from barns to chapels, cottages to shops, railway signal boxes and beyond.
