IHBC Nottingham 2019’s ‘Perspectives to take to School’: Castle restoration progress online, from the air, but see it in person on ‘hard hat’ tours at the School

websiteBird’s-eye views have been released in the Nottingham Post showing the progress being made on the £30 million regeneration of Nottingham Castle, with images taken by the Nottingham and Derby Hot Air Balloon Club, but you can understand how the work around the site is progressing in person, on a ‘hard-hat’ tour at the IHBC’s 2019 Nottingham School.

The work will include a new visitor centre, virtual reality attractions and improved access to the important caves underneath the Castle.

Providing an update on the scheme to Nottingham Post, a spokesman for Nottingham City Council said: ‘Work on Nottingham Castle is progressing rapidly.  The scaffolding which has been a very visible addition to the city skyline has enabled our contractors to lift the roof and check the structural integrity and condition of the Ducal Palace’s roof timbers. A lot of the internal strip-out works required inside the Castle has now been completed and foundations for the new-build elements for the Rebellion Gallery and new visitor centre are underway.

flyerThe 2019 IHBC Annual School will have two Hard Hat Tours of the Castle showing the progress on the repair scheme by July.  Booking an Annual School place you can choose a tour of the Castle on either Thursday 4th July or Saturday 6th July.  The tours will be guided by the Architects and the Project Team for the transformation of Nottingham Castle.

The Nottingham Post also recently offered readers a chance to look inside the Castle as the works progress Delegates at the IHBC Annual School who go on either of the two Castle tours will see this and more besides.
